From award-winning digital agencies to industry-leading custodians to one of the nation's fastest-growing RIAs, Mary Kate has served all over the space. And everywhere she's been, she's found a way to empower firms to evolve their marketing practices so they could grow and become more profitable.

Industry marketing thought leader

Prior to founding MK Wealth Marketing, Mary Kate was the CMO and EVP, Marketing and PR Services of Ficomm Partners, a marketing firm that specialized in the independent wealth space. In this role, she oversaw marketing for the firm and all agency services delivered to clients.

Before that, Mary Kate was the Chief Marketing Officer and SVP of Advisor Marketing at Carson Group, one of the fastest-growing RIAs in the US. In just two years, she helped the firm go from just $18B to $35B by:

  • Restructuring the marketing team entirely, dramatically improving outcomes and team satisfaction
  • Overhauling the marketing services offering for 130+ firms
  • Establishing a digital marketing function and significantly expanded capabilities
  • Spearheading the build of the centralized consumer lead generation program
  • Rebuilding the advisor recruitment marketing program to achieve record lead generation
  • Concepting and overseeing the build of the enterprise's first end-to-end analytics program
  • Setting records for media coverage and ads efficiency
  • Launching the company’s unified brand messaging strategy for more disciplined, consistent, inspiring marketing across the board
  • Leading, conducting and writing the company's first original research -- the State of Women in Wealth Management Report

At this time, MK became a sought-after speaker on the industry conference circuit because of her direct, entertaining style. She was awarded with WealthManagement.com's CMO of the Year in 2022 and was a finalist for Innovator of the Year in 2023.

Digital, content and creative marketing innovation

Carson tapped Mary Kate for the CMO role because of her leadership success at TD Ameritrade Institutional. A long-time client of hers, TD Ameritrade Institutional brought her in-house in 2017 to head up brand and creative for the advisor-focused business. In short order, she took over leadership of digital marketing and built out the first content marketing function for the custodian.

The content marketing program Mary Kate built with her team was the industry leader. It was the first custodial podcast (Beyond the Portfolio), Alexa flash briefing, search-optimized content hub and design-forward print publication. The program won several coveted content marketing awards.

In her time at TD Ameritrade Institutional, she also had the great pleasure of consulting with multiple advisory firms on their own marketing practices.

Mary Kate joined TD Ameritrade from a stint at IBM. This break from the financial services world gave her a much-needed look into how business consulting services looked elsewhere. World-renowned for its management and leadership training, IBM gave Mary Kate its very best. She had the pleasure of heading marketing for Employment Branding and Global Recruitment Process Outsourcing businesses and led a team across 4 continents.

Mary Kate's love of wealth management and financial services started in the early days, when she was working in digital marketing agencies in the early 2000s. First as a copywriter, then eventually moving up to creative director and lead strategist. Her clients included TD Ameritrade, First National Bank of Omaha, Securities America, Allstate, LBL Insurance, and Suze Orman.
