If you’re thinking about working with me, you probably want to know a little bit about me. First things first: My name is Mary Kate Gulick, but you can call me MK. I’ve been working in marketing since 2001, and most of that time has been in financial services, with a specific concentration in independent wealth.

Here’s the career history in a nutshell:

• Worked at award-winning advertising and digital marketing agencies for 12 years with clients like TD Ameritrade, First National Bank of Omaha, Securities America (now Osaic), Suze Orman, Allstate, Investools, and thinkorswim, where I honed my creative skills, grabbed the top spot as Creative Director, then switched to the strategy side of the table.

• Moved to IBM where I got some of the best leadership training corporate America has to offer.

• Came to TD Ameritrade Institutional to lead their new brand and creative team, and eventually took over digital marketing and established their content marketing team as well.

• Built out an award-winning content marketing program at TDAI before the Schwab buyout

• Wrote an Amazon bestselling marketing book - The Real Deal: Getting Known for Your Genuine Expertise in a World of Bullsh*t Gurus

• Took the CMO role at Carson Group where I oversaw the build of its centralized consumer lead gen engine, overhauled the advisor marketing services offering, rebuilt the B2B marketing function, and helped the company go from $18B-35B in AUM in just 2 years.

• Won WealthManagement.com’s award for CMO of the Year at an RIA in 2022

• Took on the EVP of marketing/CMO role at award-winning RIA marketing firm Ficomm in 2023

Outside of all the work, I live in Omaha, Nebraska with my amazing husband, 2 hilarious sons, and 2 very fluffy goldendoodles. I have a very active volunteer life working on food insecurity in the Metro area. After all these years, I still love independent wealth management and helping more people get access to unbiased advice from skilled professionals so they can live out their purpose and strengthen their communities. I consider this my purpose.
